Services

El-Zahra Islamic Center offers a wide variety of services for our community. We believe that a masjid is more than just a place for prayer. It is a place to learn and grow together, and to spiritually recharge, so that we can go out and contribute to the world in a positive way. We cannot bring love and happiness to others if we are spiritually and socially deprived. The Masjid allows us to support one another for the sake of Allah. We come together as servants of God, seeking His pleasure and guidance, and, out of His mercy, He has provided us with love and support from a family of believers. This family is not based on blood, but by love of Allah and His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). At El-Zahra Islamic Center, we recognize that our community members include men, women, elders, and children, and people from various cultures and backgrounds, as well as different levels of faith. For this reason, we strive to offer various services to meet the individual needs of each group, but we also try to bridge the gaps that may exist between each in order to build a strong unified community. Following is a brief overview of our services.

Overview of Services

  1. PRAYER SERVICES 5 TIMES A DAY

    • Five separate times a day (Dawn, Noon, Late Afternoon, Dusk, and Evening)

    • In Islam we are encouraged to pray at the mosque and reminded of the benefits of praying in congregation. Our mosque is available for worshipers to come and perform the sacred and beautiful act of worship with their brothers and sisters.

  2. MARRIAGE SERVICES

    • We offer pre-marriage advice to couples about to join each other in the holy bond and commitment of matrimony. We perform the formal marriage service, in conjunction with State requirements and documentation.

  3. COUNSELING

    • Trials visit each of us throughout our lives. During these moments, we need advice and counsel to help us through these trials. The Imam has many years of experience offering marriage, youth, family, and grief counseling.

  4. “ASK THE IMAM”

    • Often times we are confronted with a situation in which the right choice is not clear or we simply are not aware of the best ethical decision to make. Ask our Imam about these situations and how Islam’s sacred law addresses them.

  5. WEEKEND SCHOOL

    • For the last 20 years, we have provided weekend education for our youth to learn timeless wisdom and gain valuable knowledge that will help achieve a firm understanding of their faith and the ethics and morals it provides them. We have brought our weekend school services to the El-Zahra Islamic Center as well.

  6. COMMUNITY CENTER

    • Our center is a place for our community to hold special events and meetings. The Center also serves as a safe and wholesome space for our youth to learn, participate in athletics, and socialize in a dignified manner.

  7. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

    • El-Zahra Islamic Center provides regular lectures and special events in which our community may expand their knowledge. The programs include Quran commentary and wisdom, details of sacred law, lessons from the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him), history of Muslim civilization, the proper performance of rites of worship (like prayer and Hajj), civic issues and duties, and much more.

  8. FAMILY NIGHTS

    • Family Nights is one of our most important features at the El-Zahra Islamic Center. These special nights begin with Thikr, Quran and a short speech and conclude with Salah and Dinner with our brothers and sisters. This is an opportunity for the whole family to come together to spiritually recharge and to provide a platform for families in our community to get to know one another in a safe environment.
