Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), We are delighted to say that our zoning certificate was reinstated! Tonight was a very historical and educational experience for all. We are taught in Islam, as well as other faiths, to respond to hate with mercy and compassion. Although some hurtful things were said, there were a great number of people who were open-minded and simply concerned. We did our best to clarify our intentions and endured some slander. We are happy to say that many at Midland Park are willing to give us a chance, which is all we can ask.
We look forward to being constructive members of the Midland Park community, and above all, loving neighbors. We hope to exceed their expectations and shatter the misconceptions that some may have.
Next, we would like to thank the people. As our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, ‘The one who does not thank the people, does not thank God.’ First, we would like to thank the various people from Midland Park, Teaneck, and other towns, that came out to support our right to a house of worship despite the fact that they were not Muslims. It truly was a humbling experience that reflects the potential of our nation. Next, we would like to thank the board for their time and patience throughout the night. Finally, we would like to thank all the Muslim friends and families that came to show their support tonight. Many were fasting and some missed dinner, but I think deep down we know it was worth it. Those that respectfully left, God knows that you came and sacrificed your time. We would like to say thank you and we appreciate your continuous support. We look forward to closing soon.
